Windrush Commons is a 49-unit affordable housing development located at 910 South Main Street in Great Barrington, within walking distance of downtown shopping, the public library, medical offices, public transportation, and supermarkets. The community includes 12 one-bedroom, 25 two-bedroom, and 12 three-bedroom apartments and townhomes (including several accessible units), spread across five buildings on a 2.5-acre site, with an additional 5.47 acres permanently conserved as wetlands. All units are energy-efficient and “Net Zero ready.”

Developed by the Impact South County in partnership with Way Finders, Inc., Windrush Commons opened in 2023 after construction began in early 2022. The project drew over 300 applicants before it was even finished, underscoring the severity of the Berkshires’ affordable housing shortage. Amenities include a community gathering space with a kitchen, green common areas, a central walkway designed to foster interaction while preserving privacy, 24-hour maintenance, and a coin-operated laundry room.
